Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa

Transparency combined with warm colors set the tone for the conversion of the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh. The bathrooms were updated to reflect the five-star standard and made considerably larger.

The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa has stood in view of the famous castle at the heart of Edinburgh for the past 26 years. Every one of its 269 rooms was renovated in 2010. Traditional Scottish color tones, classic design and high-quality materials create a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The interior architects have set a prime example of how to equip a standard-sized hotel room of 26 to 30 m2 with every comfort of a five-star hotel. A glass cube now contains a shower unit with barrier-free access, a generous bath and basin and a separate toilet. The bathrooms are now all larger, but the rooms themselves do not appear any smaller thanks to the clever use of mirrored surfaces in combination with transparent and semi-transparent materials.

The interior designers further optimized the relatively confined space by installing sliding doors between bathroom and bedroom. Hawa's sales partner Häfele UK Limited recommended the all-glass hardware system HAWA Puro 100-150 in response to the demand for complete transparency. The scales were tipped by hardware components that are completely integrated in the ceiling, ease of installation and outstanding sliding convenience.
